Numbers
Numbers, any kind of numbers related to the hydroponics or aquaponics industry
AS the editor of Hydroponics On the Run, it goes without saying that I have to constantly surf the Internet for any information about hydroponics or/and aquaponics.
Sometimes, I stumble on numbers or stats about this industry like:
- how many lumens per square meters
- how many pounds of fishes per gallons of water fro aquaponics
- minimum distance between chili plants in hydroponics
- the biggest yield for a tomato plant
Whatever! So I decided to add here any kind of numbers or stats I will find out in my long hours ofo hunting the net. Beware! I will be more a “dump” file that a well organized directory. Will see, with time, if it is a good idea or not.

- Tomato plant that has been recognized as a Guinness World Record Holder, with a harvest of more than 32,000 tomatoes and a total weight of 1,151.84 pounds.
- An area of 1 0 sq.m. can grow hydroponically enough tomatoes and vegies for a family of four, fast growing, better flavoured and pollution free.
- To illustrate the potential use of hydroponics, tomatoes grown in a soil-less manner can yield 150 tons per acre annually vs. 5-10 tons per acre annually in traditionally soil based farming! The only necessities are fresh water and nutrients.
